## Affected machines This bulletin covers Honda **HRX217(K)2HXA** and **HRX217(K)2HMA** walk-behind lawnmowers. The recalled lawn mowers are red with "HONDA" written on the bag. The model and serial number are printed on a label located on the upper rear of the mower deck. ### Affected serial-number range **MAGA-1500001 through MAGA-1520532** Sold at authorized American Honda Motor Corp. dealers and Home Depot stores nationwide from **October 2007 through June 2008** for about $900. About **20,500 units** are affected. ## Issue The lawn mower's **rear shield can break off**, allowing debris to be thrown toward the operator. A discharged stone, stick, or other debris striking the operator can cause laceration or eye injury. Reported field incidents at time of recall: - 1 report of a shield breaking off - 0 injuries ## What to do 1. Identify the unit by model number and serial number on the label on the upper rear of the deck. 2. Verify the serial number is in the MAGA-1500001 through MAGA-1520532 range. 3. **Stop using the lawnmower immediately.** 4. Contact your local Honda Lawn and Garden dealer to schedule a free repair. 5. Honda mailed direct notices to registered owners. ## Hazard Severity is rated **warning** because of the small affected population (~20,500), single reported incident, and zero injuries.
