## Affected machines
About **4,700 US units** (plus 200 in Canada) of John Deere **XUV590** and **XUV590 S4** Gator utility vehicles.
The model number **"XUV590"** or **"XUV590 S4"** is printed on the hood. **"John Deere"** and **"Gator"** are printed on the cargo box. The serial number is on the **frame on the rear of the machine above the hitch** and begins with **1M0590**.
The recalled vehicles have **four-wheel suspension** with side-by-side seating for two or four people, and were sold in **green and yellow, olive drab, and camouflage**.
### Production / sales window
Sold at **John Deere dealers nationwide** from **September 2017 through August 2018** for **$10,000 to $13,000**.
This is the first-generation XUV590 (the older XUV590 naming, predating the XUV590E/M/M S4 lineup that came later).
## Issue
The **powertrain hardware can come loose**, causing the **throttle to stick**. This could result in the operator not being able to stop the vehicle, posing a crash hazard.
When the throttle hardware loosens, the throttle linkage can bind in a partially-open or fully-open position. Releasing the throttle pedal does not return the engine to idle, and the operator cannot stop the vehicle through normal means. On these UTVs the brake system is not designed to overpower a sustained stuck-open throttle — attempting to brake against full throttle leads to brake fade.
Reported field incidents at recall time:
- 2 reports of throttle cable sticking
- 0 injuries
## What to do
1. Find the **serial number on the rear frame above the hitch** and confirm it begins with **1M0590**.

## Hazard
Severity is rated **warning**. Only 2 reports on a ~4,900 unit combined US+Canada population (~0.04% rate), and no injuries reported. This is a smaller-population, lower-incident-rate recall than TNB02600089 (steering, ~68,300 units, 9 reports) or TNB02600091 (XUV835 throttle, ~20,570 units, 9 reports), which keeps it below the critical threshold despite the same vehicle-control-loss failure class.
