## Affected machines
About **2,100** Cub Cadet commercial zero-turn lawn mowers manufactured **January through December 2011** (full calendar year — broader window than the related CPSC 11-733 recall).
A label located on the **frame under the foot rest** lists the model number and the month and year date of manufacture (DOM).
### Affected models
| Model | Type |
|---|---|
| M54-KH | Tank M-series, Kohler engine |
| M60-KH | Tank M-series, Kohler engine |
| M60-KW | Tank M-series, Kawasaki engine |
| M72-KW | Tank M-series, Kawasaki engine |
| S6031-KW | Tank S-series, Kawasaki engine |
| S7237-KW | Tank S-series, Kawasaki engine |
| TANK L48 | Tank L-series |
| TANK L60 | Tank L-series |
The KH suffix indicates Kohler-engined units; KW indicates Kawasaki-engined units.
## Issue
**Fuel can leak from the vent valve grommet on top of the fuel tank during operation**, posing a fire hazard. This is distinct from the related CPSC 11-733 recall on a similar Cub Cadet population — that one involves the **rear mounting screws on the bottom of the tank**, not the vent valve grommet on top.
Reported field incidents at time of recall:
- 106 reports of fuel leaking or seeping from the top of the tank
- 1 fire
- 0 injuries
The high incident count (~5% of the recalled population) indicates this defect was actively manifesting in the field rather than being a precautionary recall.
## What to do
1. Check your model and date of manufacture against the table above. The label is under the foot rest.
2. If your mower is in scope, **stop using it immediately**.
3. Contact an authorized Cub Cadet service dealer for free repair. Cub Cadet was contacting registered owners directly at recall time.
4. Call Cub Cadet at (888) 848-6038 Monday-Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. ET, Saturday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. ET, or visit https://www.cubcadet.com and click "Product Recalls" for more information.
## Hazard
Severity is rated **critical** because of the fire risk from fuel leakage. The 1 fire incident at recall time confirms the hazard had manifested in the field.

Dealers receiving an MTD-built Cub Cadet from this era in for service should check all three.
