This bulletin covers the **Cub Cadet portion**: - Cub Cadet Pro Z 760 LKW EFI The recall also covers Ferris IS 2100Z ZTR mowers — see sibling bulletin **TNB02600025** for the Ferris portion. ### Engine identification "Kawasaki FX850V EFI" is printed on the **engine fan housing**. The engine model and serial number are also on the engine fan housing. ### Affected engine models and serial-number ranges | Engine model | Engine serial range | Model year | |---|---|---| | FX850V-AS44 | FX850VB19736 – FX850VB44147 | 2017 | | FX850V-AS47 | FX850VB20733 – FX850VB40776 | 2018 | The recall is **engine-specific**. Only Pro Z 760 LKW EFI mowers fitted with a Kawasaki FX850V-EFI engine in the serial ranges above are affected. ## Issue The **fuel injector** can leak excessive amounts of fuel into the engine. Excess fuel in the cylinder during operation creates conditions for hot exhaust components to ignite the fuel-rich mixture, producing burn and fire hazards. Reported field incidents at time of recall: none. The recall was preventive based on Kawasaki's engineering review. ## What to do 1. Identify your engine model and serial number from the engine fan housing. 2. If your engine is in scope, **stop using the mower immediately**. 3. Contact Kawasaki Motors USA at (866) 836-4463 Monday-Friday 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. ET to schedule a free repair, or check your local Kawasaki dealer. 4. You may also contact Cub Cadet at (888) 848-6038. ## Related bulletins - **TNB02600025** covers the Ferris IS 2100Z ZTR portion of this same CPSC 20-703 recall. ## Hazard Severity is rated **critical** because of the fire risk. Although no incidents had been reported, fuel injector failure on a high-output EFI engine is the kind of latent defect that warrants the highest urgency. ## Source - U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, recall 20-703, "Kawasaki Motors USA Recalls Lawn Mower Engines Due to Burn and Fire Hazards (Recall Alert)," October 8, 2019. - Sold at Kawasaki dealers and lawn-and-garden stores nationwide from June 2017 through August 2019 for about $2,800 for engines sold separately, or between $10,000 and $12,000 for mowers with the engines pre-installed. ## Library notes The Pro Z 760 LKW EFI row is added in this migration as the only Pro Z series row in the library at present. If additional Pro Z variants come into scope from future recalls, sibling rows can be added then.
