## Issue
The **fuel tank's neck can crack** during normal operation, allowing fuel to leak. A leaking fuel tank near a hot engine creates a fire hazard. The cracking appears to be a manufacturing defect in the fuel tank itself rather than a wear pattern.
Reported field incidents at time of recall:
- 15 reports of fuel tank neck cracking
- 0 injuries
## What to do
1. Check your mower's model SKU against the table above. The model number is on a decal on the mower.
2. If your mower is in scope, **stop using it immediately, store it outside**, and contact an authorized Cub Cadet dealer.
3. Cub Cadet customer service: (888) 848-6038, Monday-Friday 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. ET, Saturday-Sunday 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. ET. Or visit https://www.cubcadet.com/en_US/product-recalls.html.
4. Cub Cadet was contacting all known purchasers directly at the time of recall.
## Hazard
Severity is rated **critical** because of the fire risk. The CPSC's recommendation to **store outside** until repaired underscores the urgency — leaking fuel inside an enclosed space (garage, shed) is a particularly dangerous fire scenario.
