## Affected machines About 4,000 SCAG Liberty Z zero-turn lawn mowers, sold at SCAG authorized dealers nationwide from **October 2014 through May 2015** for about $4,500. The mowers have an orange base with two orange-and-black steering handles. Two large black wheels with orange rims at the back, two smaller black wheels with orange rims at the front. "Scag" in red letters and "Liberty Z" in white letters with a blue "Z" appears on a plate below the front of the seat. ### Affected models and serial-number ranges | Model | Serial number range | |---|---| | SZL48-22KT | K7100001 – K7102353 | | SZL52-24KT | K7200001 – K7202020 | The model and serial numbers are printed on a vertical plate **under the mower's seat**. The SKU encoding: **SZL** = SCAG Liberty Z; **48 / 52** = deck size in inches; **22KT / 24KT** = engine horsepower and Kawasaki engine designation. ## Issue The gas tank can leak. A leaking gas tank near a hot engine or hot exhaust components creates a fire hazard. Reported field incidents at time of recall: - 5 reports of gas tank leaks - 0 injuries ## What to do 1. Check your mower's model and serial number against the table above. 2. If your mower is in scope, **stop using it immediately**. 3.
