Kubota ZG100 Kommander fuel-tank pressure relief valve safety campaign
Kubota · 2013+ · Published

The fuel tank's pressure relief valve can malfunction on certain ZG100 Kommander residential zero-turn mowers (ZG123S, ZG124E, ZG127S, ZG127E), potentially causing wear of the fuel tank and creating a fire hazard. Affected serial numbers (and below): ZG123S 12505, ZG124E 12179, ZG127S 12959, ZG127E 11574. Free dealer repair.

## Affected machines
Kubota ZG100 Kommander Series residential zero-turn mowers with the following serial numbers and below:
| Model | Affected serial numbers (and below) | Engine |
|---|---|---|
| ZG123S | 12505 | 23 hp Kohler Courage Pro |
| ZG124E | 12179 | 24 hp Briggs & Stratton Pro |
| ZG127S | 12959 | 27 hp Kohler Courage Pro |
| ZG127E | 11574 | 27 hp Briggs & Stratton Pro |
The Kommander ZG100 series was Kubota's first residential zero-turn line, introduced at GIE+Expo October 2012 (model year 2013). Decks: 48-inch (ZG123S, ZG124E) and 54-inch (ZG127S, ZG127E).
## Issue
The fuel tank's **pressure relief valve can malfunction**. A malfunctioning relief valve can allow internal fuel-tank pressure to rise abnormally, which over time wears the tank itself. A fuel tank that has been weakened by abnormal pressure cycling can develop leaks; combined with the heat of the engine bay, that creates a fire hazard.
The Kubota safety notice does not publish specific incident counts for this campaign.
## What to do
1. Check your mower's model and serial number. Only units with serial numbers at or below the cutoffs in the table above are in scope.
2. If your mower is in scope, **stop using it immediately** until repaired.
3. Contact your authorized Kubota dealer for the free repair. Kubota was contacting affected owners directly via mail at the time of campaign launch.
## Hazard
Severity is rated **high** because of the fire risk and the latent nature of the failure (the valve malfunction wears the tank gradually before any visible symptom appears).
